2011 Jeep Liberty Compact SUV

Jeep Liberty (also sold as the Jeep Cherokee) is a compact SUV from DaimlerChrysler. Liberty was introduced in 2002 with a style inspired by the Dakar and Jeep cars show Forester. Compete with the Toyota RAV4, Ford Escape, Chevrolet Equinox and Nissan Xterra. Liberty was the first jeep to use two new PowerTech engines: A 150 hp 2.4 L I4 and 210 hp 3.7L V6. Despite popular belief, freedom was not the first Jeep vehicle to use an independent suspension, the Jeep Wagoneer first used in 1960.

Brakes 4-wheel disc were added in 2003. For 2005, a 2.8 L VM Motori turbodiesel engine available in the CRD model. While diesel engines are not familiar in the U.S. market, Jeep said they sold 10,000 Liberty CRD models in the first calendar year of sales. Only available is 2005 and 2006, the CRD has since been canceled due to its diesel engine could not meet future emissions.

Liberty has been very successful for Jeep, surpassing the Ford Escape in 2005 to become the best-selling compact SUV in the United States. Liberty 70 percent of buyers are new to the Jeep brand and the Toledo North Assembly plant in Toledo, Ohio is running overtime to produce a model.

Jeep Liberty Limited 2 e1305036016701 2011 Jeep Liberty Compact SUV From DaimlerChrysler
Jeep Liberty is designed to actually venture off-road – a trait not shared by many of its lighter competitors car-based SUV. It does so with confidence thanks to the steep approach and departure angles and exceptional suspension travel and articulation. Combined with an independent front suspension and solid rear axle and rack and pinion steering, a new or used Liberty works best for those who want a versatile, user-utility vehicle and a plan to build on the achievements outside the road from time to time.

Disadvantages include the Liberty (diesel version unsecured short-term) “the worst of both worlds”, a combination of performance and fuel economy sad. Furthermore, compared with booths and finishing in jurisdiction, the interior environment of Liberty is best described as Fisher Price, because it is a design exercise in the current hard plastic Jeep Liberty into account the main concerns of the first generation, transmission and better management of the road. It has more space for passengers and offers more convenience features. The cute style of the first freedom has been replaced by a more traditional Jeep look square jaw, and the cabin has more available luxury features, such as wipers, remote start, setting the memory controller and a power sliding sunroof canvas, which allows a large aperture. There is room for rear passengers, thanks to a wheelbase stretched 2 inches.

2011 Acura NSX

The new 2010 2011 Acura NSX has advancements not only under the hood. On the outside, waste was trimmed everywhere in the NSX-from the frame members to the suspension arms to the connecting rods-to achieve leaner, meaner functionality. In the cabin, the vehicle’s deeply sculpted bucket seats position the driver close to the center of gravity, poised to respond to the road. On the dashboard, the instrument cluster boasts large gauges that convey performance data against a dark blue background for easy reading at high speeds.

Up above, the removable aluminum roof panel comes off quickly when you rotate a lever on each side, and is light enough for one person to lift easily. This feature is just another demonstration of how Acura has made the new and improved 2010 2011 Acura NSX into a work of art. And we’re not even talking about the available 2010 2011 Acura NSX body kits – these can make the vehicle from a work of art into a masterpiece. Check them out today.

Hyundai Eon in India Preview

Every small car from Hyundai definitely garners attention. Be it their first small car, the Santro or even their not so small i20. In comes news that Hyundai has been planning for a car to replace the Santro and we were all sure that it was going to be the i10, however, as is the norm, both the cars sell side by side in India. In comes more news about sightings of a car which is going to replace the ageing Santro for sure.  This car which went by the name or rather code name as HA has now officially being  christened the Hyundai Eon. We have a sneak preview of the Hyundai Eon In India. This car would officially launch around the second week of October.

This car would come with the new design language that Hyundai have been trying to promote, namely “Fluidic Concept” . That a manufacturer would bring in their highly publicized design language on a low cost  car. Multi dimensional in their approach are the head lamps while the grille is reminiscent of the new Hyundai  design language. By the way, “long period of time” is the meaning of the name Eon. Maybe, they named it so due to the fact that the Santro replacement took more than 11 years to come. We would say that the wait is worth it. This car has definitely got the style quotient  in place. The side profile definitely reminds one of some of the Merc cars. The rear profile would also remind one of many of the highly acclaimed for their design cars. Hyundai have hit the right spot with the styling of this car.

Hyundai Eon in India
Hyundai have chucked the extra length and space thing in this car. This one has got  a shorter wheelbase than the Santro, to be exact, it stands at 2380 mm. However, the way the tall boy Santro was known for its roominess, this one wouldn’t be. It is said that space inside the cabin would be no more than the Nano. What the interiors would be are definitely notches above that of the Nano in terms of equipment as also the fit and finish.

Why only the Nano, even others like the Alto, Spark and A-Star  would be left far  behind in this equipment war. A CD player would be standard along with other assorted things in the higher up variants. What the car lacks in space, Hyundai have cleverly carved out cubby holes for the Hyundai Eon in India, making it a smugglers delight in the process. The boot space for this one is also the largest in its class. It is said that it would be close to 218 liters.

Hyundai Eon interior
The chassis is also similar to the one in the i10. This means that the ride quality as also the agility would be similar to that of the i10. This means a composed poise for this car. Seeing by the way Hyundai has done the NVH of the new fluidic Verna, even this one should be class leading. Visibility could be a problem towards the rear especially with the steeply raked in column cutting visibility to near zero. This could be a nice way by Hyundai to sell rear parking sensors as accessories for this car.

The engine for the Hyundai Eon in India would be derived from the one in the Santro. 56 Bhp of power is what the Eon is expected to bring along with it. That coupled to a nice shifting 5 speed manual would be a perfect combination in this segment.  ARAI certification says that the Eon would deliver 21 kmpl of petrol. With prices of petrol slated to touch Rs 80 per liter in the near future, this one would definitely be a chartbuster for Hyundai in terms of sales. The Hyundai Eon price in India is a thing which would definitely be an eye opener for even manufacturers like Maruti. It is said that this one would start with a base price of Rs 2.75 lakhs. Watch this space for more.

One More Small Car Getting Around 40 MPG on the Highway
Hyundai has been on a roll lately. After launching the all-new 40 MPG (highway) Elantra a few weeks ago, they are now debuting another small car that should get around 40 MPG on the highway (not an official EPA number yet), the 3-door Veloster coupe. It's a car aimed at the "Y generation", which is basically PR-speak for "urban, cheap, high-tech". Read on for more technical specs and photos.

Hyundai Veloster Specifications
Under the hood is an all-new small (for North-America) 1.6-liter direct injected gasoline engine called "Gamma". It produces an estimated peak output of 138 hp (103 kW) at 6,300 rpm and maximum torque of 123 lb-ft (167 Nm) at 4,850 rpm. It also features Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (D-CVVT), an electronic throttle control, a roller timing chain, variable induction and innovative anti-friction coatings such as CrN Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) coating and Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) coating. Pretty high-tech, but it doesn't stop there.

hyundai veloster photo

The Gamma can be mated either to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Dual-clutch transmissions keep most of the fuel-economy benefits of manuals, but with the convenience of automatics. Pretty much a win-win.

"This powertrain also has an Active Eco mode which modifies engine and transmission control for improved fuel economy that translates into more than a seven percent improvement in real-world fuel economy."
The Hyundai Veloster weights 2,584 pounds, more than 400 pounds lighter than the Scion tC.
I would really have liked to see a stop-start anti-idling system to improve city MPG, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards for now.

The Veloster will be sold as a 2012 model. Pricing to come.
Always Remember
Walking, biking, and taking public transit are all greener alternatives to driving. But if you're going to buy a car anyway, get the most fuel-efficient model that fits yours needs and drive it as sanely as possible (don't speed, combine trips, etc).

2012 Hyundai Veloster reinvents the affordable sports coupe

2012 Hyundai Veloster
After the usual tease of spy shots and teasers, the sheet has finally been pulled back on the 2012 Hyundai Veloster. Not only does the Veloster take aim at wannabe efficient sports cars like the Honda CR-Z, it reinvents the way we look at the shape of coupes and hatchbacks, employing a unique three-door design that's surprisingly better in execution than we expected.

Hyundai is using its 2012 Veloster to unveil a slate of new technologies, including a brand new engine and transmission, as well as the automaker's first foray into the safety and convenience telematics realm with Blue Link. Hyundai is promising class-leading fuel efficiency with a truly sporty driving experience all wrapped in a wholly unique package, but does the Veloster meet the criteria?

Alfa Romeo 4C Concept

Alfa Romeo 4C Concept Geneva Alfa Romeo 4C Concept
The Alfa Romeo 4C Concept is a sports car concept that heralds the return to rear-wheel drive. It was one of the few vehicles unveiled at the Geneva auto Show.

According to Alfa Romeo official, the 4c GTA is “a compact “supercar” which represents the true essence of a sports car, according to the brand’s values: performance, Italian style and technical excellence aimed at maximum driving pleasure in total safety.”  It might look a little like an Elise with an Alfa Romeo nose, but the 4C is a statement of serious sporting intent from Alfa Romeo – and one that it plans to put into production by the end of 2012.

The Alfa Romeo 4C Concept is a compact car, with a wheelbase of 2.4 metres and an overall length of just four metres, and it has an ambitiously small kerb weight to match – less than 850kg. This will be achieved through extensive use of carbon fibre in the chassis, though exactly how that will manifest itself – and how the price will be kept low(ish) – Alfa isn’t yet saying.

The Alfa Romeo 4C Concept is powered by a “4 cylinder” 1750 Turbo Petrol engine,  will produce ‘in excess of 200bhp’. That will be enough, says Alfa, to push the 4C from 0-62mph in less than 5.0seconds. The power will be sent to the rear wheels via Alfa Romeo’s brand-new, six-speed dry twin-clutch transmission, which is now also available in front-wheel drive applications in the form of various Mitos and Giuliettas. The engine will sprint the concept from 0 to 60 mph in just 5 seconds, while top speed goes up to 155 mph.

The Alfa Romeo 4C Concept also promises to handle well too, with high quadrilateral suspension at the front and a MacPherson set-up at the rear for maximum agility and road holding.

The History of Nissan Cube

http://images.thecarconnection.com/sml/nissan_100170124_s.jpg
The Nissan Cube had been sold in Japan since 1998, and it had developed a cult following over there, but Nissan waited until 2009 to bring the third-generation Cube to the U.S.
The Nissan Cube has an unusual, asymmetrical exterior with a side-swinging cargo door and a rear window that actually wraps around one of the sides, plus beveled window frames all around; inside it's just as odd, with a lot of rounded design cues and a flowing interior design that was modeled after Jacuzzi tubs.

All that design weirdness translates to a very usable vehicle for people and cargo, however. It's one of the most upright vehicles, in terms of seating, and four taller adults can fit quite comfortably inside. Seats, in front especially, are better than those of most small cars. And the side-opening door along with the Cube's very low cargo floor together work well for groceries, even if the backseat doesn't fold flat to expand the floor.

2012 VW Beetle

2012 VW Beetle
The all new 2012 Volkswagen Beetle presents a trendy blend of 60s aptitude and trendy technological oomph. While it will not be confused with the long-lasting make of decades past, the brand new Beetle is sportier, more powerful, and ready to take its passengers all throughout the country and again with plenty of room for cargo and good times. Aesthetically, it holds on to the graceful rear lines of the unique 60s Beetle while shifting past the round design and changing it with an edgier and extra angular profile. This text will present further information about the new 2012 Volkswagen Beetle.

The 2012 Volkswagen Beetle comes with three engines so buyers can resolve for themselves the place they would like to strike the stability between gasoline economy and pink lining performance. On the base degree is an ordinary 2.5 liter gasoline engine with 5 cylinders. This version is present in different choices by VW, and it can put out up to one hundred seventy horsepower and as much as 177 foot kilos of torque within the decrease gears. That is more than sufficient to get anybody round city and in control on the quickest highways in the United States.

2012 VW Beetle
Nevertheless, people fascinated by more speed and acceleration can go for the two liter turbo charged 4 cylinder engine that will likely be able to placing out up to 200 horsepower. This engine is the same one which consumers of the 2011 Golf GTI are treated to. It’ll value you extra in fuel and within the preliminary buy value, but when your primary precedence is power, then you’ll most likely find it price it.

Alternatively, if you would like to have both an increase in power and a rise in gas efficiency, then you definitely may wish to skip the gasoline powered engines and go for the diesel. You possibly can pick up a turbocharged TDI clean diesel engine in your Beetle and although it should value you extra initially, it is possible for you to to get pleasure from a lot improved mileage to the tune of up to 29 miles per gallon in the metropolis and up to 40 miles per gallon out on the highway. The brand new Beetle truly lets you have your cake and eat it too.

 2012 VW Beetle interior
Another welcome function of the trendy 2012 Volkswagen Beetle is the plush and roomy seating on the interior. The rear seating space has been expanded in the 2012 mannequin to allow for bigger passengers and cargo, and as much as 10.9 cubic feet of area are actually included inside the trunk, which itself is definitely accessible if you venture to the back of the automobile and pop open the extensive opening again lid.

Inside, you’ll be able to opt for add ons like a panoramic sunroof to let in the sun on those beautiful summer season days. If you’re a fan of fine and loud music, then you definitely might opt for the 400 watt fender premium audio system. General, the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle signifies VW is focused on retaining outdated type and blending it with new performance.

2011 Maserati Kubang

2004 Maserati Kubang Front Right View
Maserati is introducing a full-size luxury sedan this fall, so it's little surprise that the resurgent Italian automaker also developed a crossover SUV/wagon concept. The Kubang takes its name from a Javan wind and has a 4.2-liter V-8 sending 390 horsepower to all four wheels. Maserati claims a 0-to-60-mph time of 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 158 mph. The six-speed transmission is, as in the Maserati Coupe and Spyder, paddle-shifted. There's room for four, five, or six passengers depending on seating options, and a large hatch and fold-down rear deck open wide for swallowing cargo. We suppose the idea of a Maserati wagon is no more objectionable than a Porsche SUV, and Maserati will probably need to round out its product portfolio to ensure its continued success in the North American market.

2012 Citroen DS4

2012 Citroen DS4 Front Side View 2012 Citroen DS4
The DS4 is the production version of the French carmaker’s Geneva Salon DS High Rider concept car. Citroen describes the DS4 as “a unique and attractive blend of creativity, dynamism, exclusivity and versatility”, which in reality translates to a potpourri of design influences from numerous cars and segments ranging from the coupe-esque roofline and hidden rear door handles, to the almost crossover-like road clearance.

This car will reach European showrooms in 2011 at the Paris motorshow.
Interior by the French automaker’s designers basically spiffed up the cabin with higher-class materials and decorative trim than the standard C4 hatch, while also offering more personalization options such as a choice of five leather combinations, including two-tone colors. It’s also equipped with high quality leather on the dashboard and door panels while all versions come with a standard large panoramic windscreen that extends backwards into the roofline.

2012 Citroen DS4 Side View 2012 Citroen DS4
2012 Citroen DS4 has 4.27 metres long, 1.81 metres wide and 1.53 metres high, making it 60mm shorter, 20mm wider and 40mm taller than the regular C4. It features a 370-litre boot capacity, which is 38 liters less than the C4s.

The DS4 will come with a choice of five powerplants. There are two diesel options, a 110HP 1.6-liter HDi that can be specified with stop/start tech and regenerative braking technology, and a 160HP 2.0-liter HDi. The petrol range consists of three 1.6-liter engines that were co-developed with the BMW Group and include a naturally aspirated version with 120HP, and two turbocharged variants with 155HP and 200HP. Honda Civic 2012 concept

This here is the 2012 Honda Civic “concept” which debuted at the 2011 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Available in coupe and sedan form again for the U.S. market, it looks be a substantial facelift of the current model rather than a complete redesign. There isn’t much details available, but Honda mentions standard safety and optional hybrid features that will likely not make it to the Middle East.

While these are thinly-disguised versions of the production model, with body kits and big wheels tacked on, there is a chance that the GCC-spec model will look slightly different to mimic the Honda City’s front end. The existing American-built Civic is already slightly different from the one on UAE roads.

Volkswagen Up

Volkswagen Up!
Volkswagen Up!
Volkswagen Up!
Volkswagen has high hopes for the Up! concept,
predicting it will become a new vehicular icon
Volkswagen Up!
With a large rear windscreen rearward vision
should be good, aiding city driving and parking
Volkswagen Up!
The interior is minimalistic which suits the car
Volkswagen has taken the wraps off the Up!, an all-new model that the German marque claims could lead to an entirely new range of cars. One of the most interesting aspects of the new VW Up! is the engine location - in the rear of the car. There's also a good chance that it will be driven by a range of low emission 'green' engines.

Here's the full press release from Volkswagen:

Volkswagen Up! Concept

Now Volkswagen is presenting – as a world premiere at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt – a concept car that once again has the right stuff needed to move more than just one generation. It is a small, pure and high-spirited Volkswagen that pays tribute to its environment. The overall concept is marked by an innovative, clear, intuitive functionality.

The name of the concept car: up! – a positive name that is a synonym for departure, activity, dynamics and the future. "For Volkswagen", says Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Board Member with Responsibility for Technical Development, "the response of IAA visitors will be a decisive test to determine whether the concept has the same kind of potential possessed by the Beetle at one time or by the Golf today."

Concept
The up! is a city specialist, a car for four persons and all languages, for the job, the university, the drive to the beach and the excursion outside the city gates. A small car that shows a lot of size, because it offers more space than any other car of similar length (3.45 meters) and width (1.63 meters).
Its engine – conceivable here are all facets of technology that can be sensibly applied – will run in the rear. And that changes everything: Space, mood and design.

Walter de Silva, Chief Designer of the Volkswagen group, sums it up like this: "The up! is not a car whose form will become obsolete within a very brief period of time. It shines in its cleverness and yet is made with loving care. And so the up! is a clear and strong statement for future Volkswagen design." Furthermore, the team of designers and engineers has envisioned the up! concept car as the first member of an entire model line; other facets are entirely conceivable.
Ralf-Gerhard Willner, director of Concept Development, has final responsibility for the technical layout of the up!. He and Walter de Silva had already achieved a new balance in the mutual interaction between form and function at Volkswagen before the start of the project. "Absolute harmony of the basic technological concept and the emotional aspects of the design", note Willner and de Silva in unison, "can only be achieved in a hard clash of ideas between engineers and designers. That is the only way to produce icons."
That is precisely why the up! is not your run-of-the-mill, small, tightly packed car, but instead is a clever, innovative whole.

Its form is pure. It just had to look like this, no other look would do. There is nothing superfluous, and its functionality – and so also its design – speak for themselves. Simultaneously – and this is typical of Volkswagen – uncompromisingly attention was given to refining every line and every surface until we had created a friendly and masterful car.

Exterior Design
The fact that the engine of the up! runs in the rear has a decisive influence on its exterior design. That is because the up! has no classic radiator grille. It forges links to the Beetle. This fact alone gives it a great deal of independence. Dominant design characteristics are the headlamps that take an inward and diagonal line, between them the horizontally arranged air vents, the VW logo (as one of the few details kept in chrome), the tailgate that extends far forward and the smooth bumper with a circumferential black stripe as a detail of the "happy face" that is typical of Volkswagen.

In many areas, technology and design have melded into a vehicle architecture that is not only appealing, but is also very utilitarian. The rear end of the up! is a good example of this. The tailgate was produced using a transparent material. Under this gate developers also integrated the high layout of the taillights.
Another feature that is technically and visually new is the location of the VW logo in the tailgate; it is also located behind glass and illuminates when the light is on. The rear bumper was designed to match the "happy face" in front.

The powerful appearance of the up!, despite all of its compactness, is emphasized by a very wide track width (1.42 meters) relative to vehicle width. The wheels are flush with the sporty outboard wheel arches and side skirts. The radial design of the wheels and surfaces extending right up to the edge of the rim make the 18-inch wheels appear significantly larger than they actually are.
The wheels that are arranged far outboard in the bumper areas reduce body overhangs to a minimum. All of these features are part of an unmistakable side profile with a very long roof arch as well as clear and large surfaces. Giving shape to its style here are the large doors and the lateral window surfaces, which incline sharply upward at the height of the rear wheel arch and thereby help to form the very independent C-pillar design.

Interior Design
Mounting the engine in the rear opened up entirely new interior concepts. Relative to its exterior size, the space offering is exceptionally forward-thinking. The same is true of its variability: Except for the driver’s seat, all other seats can be folded and removed. Since they are designed as light shells, they can be quickly stowed in one of the cargo areas – besides the front trunk there is also one in the rear – to free up space. Afterwards, the entire passenger compartment length can be utilized as a storage area for especially bulky objects.
To achieve the high level of seating comfort that is usual at Volkswagen, besides their ergonomic design, in the case of the up! this level of comfort is also attained by a simple yet very effective trick: Similar to a self-inflating air mattress, air can be sucked out of the seat surfaces via a valve. This means that the seats can be adjusted 1:1 to the body anatomies of the occupants who have just taken a seat.

Intuitive Controls
On its up! concept car, Volkswagen is presenting some completely new solutions when it comes to operator controls. Klaus Bischoff, Chief Designer for the Volkswagen Brand, comments on this: "Another reason the up! is so fascinating is because everything, every detail, was thought out anew. In the interior we have a touchscreen with new proximity sensor technology for controlling the navigation, radio, trip computer and climate control systems. It is operated absolutely intuitively. As a result, the most complicated functions can be controlled like child’s play.
