Fiat 500 celebrates second anniversary with private gallery viewing
SLOUGH, UK : January 22, 2010 - Fiat has been celebrating the second anniversary of the UK launch of its popular 500 city car with a private ‘gallery’ viewing and reception at its flagship dealer, Fiat Marylebone.
The London dealership marked the special occasion with a unique collection of special edition Fiat 500 models from around the world.
The Fiat Marylebone showroom was designed with art exhibitions and receptions in mind, as well as having the ability to display a wide range of Fiat and Abarth cars, and has proved the perfect venue for a variety of stylish events such as last night’s reception.
“Artists, architects, designers, musicians and painters have all felt moved to put their distinctive stamp on the Fiat 500,” says Andrew Humberstone, managing director, Fiat Group Automobiles UK. “And the resulting works of art shown at these second anniversary celebrations were the products of their talent, inspiration and relationship with a great car.
“I’m delighted that the Fiat 500 has reached its second birthday in the UK in such good shape. We have sold more than 40,000 here now, and there are still plenty of customers inquiring about, or ordering one, for themselves. The 500 is already a wonderful success story.”
Eight uniquely designed Fiat 500s were displayed in the gallery, including the 500 Capri by Castagna, the 500 Valentino Rossi, 500 by Andy, 500 Diabolika, 500 Ron Arad and the new Fiat 500 Pink, which went on sale exclusively on-line this week. Examples of the Fiat 500byDiesel and a racing Abarth 500 were also shown.
This event was a private preview for Fiat customers, celebrities such as TV actor Angela Griffin and VIPs, but from today (22 January) each of the special cars will be displayed in the Wigmore Street flagship’s showroom window, one at a time, until the end of February.
Fiat Marylebone was also celebrating its second anniversary at the event.
“We were delighted to host the reception as it marked two years of great success, not only for the Fiat 500, but for the flagship too,” says Toni Dittli, Managing Director, Fiat Marylebone.
